Chersilk Gown for Padmé Amidala

What If… Anakin Skywalker hadn’t been accepted by the Jedi order. While staying on Naboo while deciding what to do next, Anakin finds his answer while working on a damaged Naboo starfighter, the improvements he made on the starfighter draw the attention the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps as well as one of their partners the Nubian Design Collective. And Anakin instantly realizes he might have found a way to fulfill his promise to his mother after all, one that doesn’t require him becoming a Jedi at all. Eight years later at the age of eighteen, Anakin Skywalker is the owner, CEO and head designer/mechanic of Wind Runner Enterprises, a billion credit conglomerate with ties to various planets and companies. Moreover Anakin has decided it’s time to fulfill his dreams and free all slaves on Tatooine by essentially buying the planet from the Hutts. A year later, Tatooine joins the Republic with the planet’s Senatorial Delegation led by Senator Shmi Skywalker Lars, Representative Kitser Chanichani Banai and Senatorial Aides Beru Whitsun and Melee…

’I was on Nubia a few days ago and had few free hours to spare. While strolling around I found this little dress atelier and thought maybe I could browse a bit. See of they’d have anything for Beru now the wedding is getting closer and closer. But then I saw this dress and something called out to me to buy it for you. Somehow knew this gown was meant for you. I most sincerely hope you like it milady and if you do then perhaps you could wear it for when I’m back Coruscant.’

The note was unsigned but she knew it could only belong to one person. He might not be a politician but Ani had a way with words, one that Padmé instantly recognized. Watching as Ellé unzipped the dress bag and removed the gown inside. from dress, Padmé found she couldn’t help but admire the craftsmanship of the gown, and she wasn’t the only one. Her three handmaiden could appreciate a beautiful garment like Anakin’s gift 

“What do you think, Ladies should I try it on?” The looks on their faces said enough, no answer was needed.

Moments later in privacy of bedroom, Padmé Amidala twirled, in a manner she hadn’t done since was a little girl, showing off her newest gown to her maids.

“Your suitor has good taste milady. That gown was made for you.” Dormé remarked from her place on the bed were she sat with Ellé and Moteé sitting next to her.

Padmé could help but agree made out of Chersilk, which was one of her favorite fabrics, and enhanced her petite figure perfectly. Dormé couldn’t have said it any better, Anakin had good taste.

Padmé Amidala at the Galaxies Opera House

What If… Palpatine discovered Anakin at the age of three and bought the boy back with him to Coruscant. Secretly raising the boy as his apprentice, all the while using Darth Maul and Darth Tyranus to draw the Jedi’s attention away from the boy as well as himself…

Padmé Amidala was nervous, which was strange as she’d known the Chancellor for years. But it was different tonight, because tonight Anakin wanted ask Sheev Palpatine’s permission to properly court her. She briefly wondered if this was how Anakin felt when she asked her parents to allow him to court her. Because of the positions they both held, they had decided to do proper Nabooan courtship which included asking their respective parents or guardian for permission. And according to Anakin the best place to ask Chancellor Palpatine for anything that required his permission was during a performance of the Galaxies Opera House, in fact her boyfriend had mischievously informed her that as a fourteen year old he had gotten his father’s permission to participate in the Vinta Harvest Classic on Malastare during a performance of Squid Lake.

Which was the reason why she was currently all dressed up and waiting on her veranda for Anakin to pick her up. Padmé really wanted to make a good expression on the man who could very well become her father in law in a near future. So with the help of her handmaidens she had carefully selected the dress she would wear to the Opera. She took great care not to dress like a senator but rather as a normal Nabooan young woman who wanted to receive the blessings of her beloved’s father, even if black wasn’t exactly the proper color for it. But Anakin loved her in black and she knew the Chancellor would realize that too. No, Padmé decided one way or another she would’ve Palpatine’s permission because their was no way she would let Anakin, the one thing she wanted for herself, slip through her fingers.

Padmé Naberrie while working

What if… rather than becoming queen after serving as Princess of Theed, Padmé Naberrie volunteered for the Royal Naboo Security Forces. Becoming one of Queen Rigantona’s handmaidens after impressing Captain Quarsh Panaka with her keen mind, strong will, sharp shot with a blaster and persuasive negotiating skills. But the Blockade of Naboo still happened and the Queen, her handmaidens and staff were able to escape the Trade Federation during Fall of Theed because of the Jedi even if they were still forced to land on Tatooine due damaged hyper drive. As Queen Rigantona did not completely trust the Jedi, she ordered Padmé to accompany Qui-Gon Jinn and report his actions to her, it was here she unknowingly met her future husband in the form of young slave boy by the name of Anakin Skywalker through whom’s actions they were able to obtain a new hyper drive. For next few weeks she would take care of the boy as she promised his mother Shmi and thus got know Anakin quite well.

After the victory over the Trade Federation, Padmé would continue to serve the queen as handmaiden for rest of the monarch’s term as well as a second term after Queen Rigantona was reelected. After this Padmé decided the time was ripe to go into business for herself and began working as mercenary for hire, often function as an respective client’s bodyguard, negotiator, bounty hunter and/or spy depending on the job. She however kept into contact with her fellow handmaidens and former queen, the latter being now known as Senator Eirtaé Rigantona who reached out to Padmé for help during the vote on the Military Creation Act. Which would bring her into contact with Anakin Skywalker again…
