Nicole Kidman in The Portrait of a Lady by Jane Campion, 1996

Long hair looks lovely on any wix, but–especially if you’re visiting the Americas or Caribbean–make sure you keep a tight hold on it! It’s all too easy for someone who wishes you harm to snip off a lock, leaving you vulnerable to identity theft via Polyjuice potion, or curses that can leave you in pain, in love, or in the control of someone else. “Be alert, be aware, keep an eye on your hair!”

Mourning robes by Belladonna Smoke
(submitted by essayofthoughts!)

The notorious Perdita Bloom made a name for herself as an escape artist, and even appeared on a bill with Harry Houdini during his tour of England before the Department of Magical Law Enforcement caught up with her for endangering magical secrecy.

I just accidentally found this really rare old picture of Emilie Autumn from the 90s or early 2000s. I think it’s a promo picture for Ravensong, either that or On a Day. She looks gorgeous ❤

Reem Acra F/W 2014
Short, cinched robes often appeal to witches with more exposure to Muggle fashion.

While her taste in mourning and business robes is irreproachable, Belladonna Smoke’s new line of travelling robes look more like the habit and wimple of a nun, than any modern wix. Reportedly quite comfy, and woven in with warming charms, they nonetheless leave one looking a paragon of religious virtue, where one may be trying more for imemorability.
