✫ Governor Padmé Amidala on Queen Soruna Advisory Council

What If… Anakin Skywalker decides to resign from Jedi Order, although he refuses to tell the council why, after Padmé tells him she pregnant. After Anakin dreams about Padmé dying while giving birth, he convinces her to leave early for Naboo where they tell her family about their clandestine marriage. Unknowingly because the couple wasn’t on Coruscant, they thwarted Palpatine’s plans for Anakin and prevailed him from turning to the dark side. Nor was Anakin present when the Jedi confronted when Mace Windu killed Sidious. Next two decades or so Anakin and Padmé try raise to their children all the while the Republic is falling apart and wars break out around them…

Padmé glanced at Queen Soruna as Pooja’s hologram announced that the Senate would disband, she didn’t envy the younger woman for the position she was now. The collapse of the Republic would made Padmé’s own dealings with the Trade Federation look like a walk in the park.

 “Governor Amidala.”  Queen Soruna acknowledged with a nod of her head.

Padmé Amidala had known Sosha Soruna for years, long before the girl had been elected as Queen or even Princess of Theed. To her it seemed only yesterday that Leia and Sosha met at the Apprentice Legislature program. Since they had been almost inseparable, one would rarely see one without the other. They’d become Apprentice Legislators at same time, she could clearly remember how the girls had been both best friends and fierce rivals. Now her daughter was part of Naboo Senatorial Delegation as Junior Representative and while Sosha was the elected Queen of Naboo.

“Your majesty.”

In a galaxy far, far away but in a different life… after succeeding liberating Naboo from the Trade Federation, Queen Amidala is determined to help the people of Tatooine as they helped her and thus her people in their hour of need. With the support of the Refugee Relief Movement, she establishes the Freedom Front, a non-profit organization formed to counter slavery in the Republic particularly in the Outer Rim. The organization becomes far more successful anyone even Padmé herself could have ever imagined. Still the organization has special place in hearts of the people of Naboo as one of his heroes of the Battle of Naboo was a former slave hailing from Tatooine. Many Gungans and Naboo have volunteered to help to Front in a variety of ways even after the birth of the Empire.

What If… Anakin Skywalker hadn’t been accepted by the Jedi order. While staying on Naboo while deciding what to do next, Anakin finds his answer while working on a damaged Naboo starfighter, the improvements he made on the starfighter draw the attention the Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps as well as one of their partners the Nubian Design Collective. And Anakin instantly realizes he might have found a way to fulfill his promise to his mother after all, one that doesn’t require him becoming a Jedi at all.

Eight years later at the age of eighteen, Anakin Skywalker is the owner, CEO and head designer/mechanic of Wind Runner Enterprises, a billion credit conglomerate with ties to various planets and companies. Moreover Anakin has decided it’s time to fulfill his dreams and free all slaves on Tatooine by essentially buying the planet from the Hutts. A year later, Tatooine joins the Republic with the planet’s Senatorial Delegation led by Senator Shmi Skywalker Lars, Representative Kitser Chanichani Banai and Senatorial Aides Beru Whitsun and Melee…

It might not be Varykino but Padmé did have the same fondness for Starfall as she had for her family’s Lake Retreat. Their was certainly tranquility that both their apartments on Coruscant lacked. Perhaps Kitser hadn’t been entirely wrong when he said both Anakin and herself were unable to leave their work on the doorstep. Still Kitser’s words had been part of the reason reason she decided to take a short leave and accompany Anakin to Tatooine where her fiancé would unveiled a moisture harvester he’d designed in three standard days.

She hadn’t bothered to take many clothes with her for the trip. Anakin often presented her with clothing he commissioned from the local seamstresses. The golden gown she was wearing now was no exception. It reminded her of the yellow gowns her handmaidens had worn back in the days she’d been queen.

In a galaxy far, far away but in a different life… Padmé is a latent force adept and is discovered by Palpatine, who realizes the new Princess of Theed unawakened potential in the force when he meets her for the first time. After careful deliberation Sidious decides that a secondary apprentice, one who understands and appreciates politics, might perhaps be very useful for his plains. More then a decade later Padmé Amidala has grown into her Force Powers carefully using the them to manipulate everyone around her including her master. Even if she cannot quite admit even to herself that she can’t really bring herself to use them on Anakin.
