attackoftheclothes:

Padmé Naberrie disguised as a Handmaiden
Julien Fournie, Couture Fall 2015

What if… rather than becoming queen after serving as Princess of Theed, Padmé Naberrie volunteered for the Royal Naboo Security Forces. Becoming one of Queen Rigantona’s handmaidens after impressing Captain Quarsh Panaka with her keen mind, strong will, sharp shot with a blaster and persuasive negotiating skills. But the Blockade of Naboo still happened and the Queen, her handmaidens and staff were able to escape the Trade Federation during Fall of Theed because of the Jedi even if they were still forced to land on Tatooine due damaged hyper drive. As Queen Rigantona did not completely trust the Jedi, she ordered Padmé to accompany Qui-Gon Jinn and report his actions to her, it was here she unknowingly met her future husband in the form of young slave boy by the name of Anakin Skywalker through whom’s actions they were able to obtain a new hyper drive. For next few weeks she would take care of the boy as she promised his mother Shmi and thus got know Anakin quite well.

After the victory over the Trade Federation, Padmé would continue to serve the queen as handmaiden for rest of the monarch’s term as well as a second term after Queen Rigantona was reelected. After this Padmé decided the time was ripe to go into business for herself and began working as mercenary for hire, often function as an respective client’s bodyguard, negotiator, bounty hunter and/or spy depending on the job. She however kept into contact with her fellow handmaidens and former queen, the latter being now known as Senator Eirtaé Rigantona who reached out to Padmé for help during the vote on the Military Creation Act. Which would bring her into contact with Anakin Skywalker again…

“As I told Captain Typho, I’m going to disguise myself as one of Eirtaé’s handmaidens.” Padmé explained calmly from the bedroom, and Anakin felt of blush color his cheeks as their was a short pause followed by the rustle of clothing being removed. “That way I can protect her in a more unnoticeable manner.”

In fact he was almost glad when Captain Typho started to explain, “It’s a variation on the handmaiden switch Senator Eirtaé uses all the time.” even if it was unnecessary unlike Obi-Wan he had figured out the purpose of the little trick, how couldn’t he as Anakin had been in the care Padmé and her fellow handmaidens for weeks of course he had picked up a thing or two including hierarchy among the handmaidens. Still anything was welcome to ignore flood images his mind was fantasizing about.

“Because mercenaries are far less threatened by a humble handmaiden then by member of senator’s security staff.”

“I always knew you were clever, Ani.”  Padmé said as she entered the room. A simple silver circlet adorned her forehead, but the young woman was still styling her hair.

And Anakin found he preened under Padmé’s praise in way he had never done for Obi-Wan or any other Jedi’s. In a way it made him a bit uneasy, that she still had the same effect on that she had when he was ten year old boy. But rather then lingering on the feelings and emotions she invoked he opted to watch as she separated a small portion of her hair, that was held down by the circlet, at the left side of her head and loosely twisting and looping the brown tresses over the circlet before pinning them it place with several hairpins. Before repeating the same progress with hair at the right side of her head, before loosely braiding the rest of the hair and coiling into a low, wide bun. Turning towards them, Padmé did a small twirl.

“Well gentleman, do you think I could pass for one of the Senator’s handmaidens?”

Anakin didn’t reply because in opinion her attire looked nothing like Dormé. It was simple but detailed dress, it resembled the outfits when he first met her except for the slit at the front of the dress, which gave him a teasing glimpses of her legs when she walked.
